ketamine integration

begin the journey back to you

learn if ketamine is right for you

Dr. Drapiza will start with a full medical and mental health assessment. She will work closely with your therapist, or help you find one if needed. Integration, processing what comes up for you during the sessions, is as important as the medicine. Ketamine is not recommended if you have uncontrolled hypertension or a personal history of psychosis.

what to expect

After the assessment, if ketamine is a good fit, you will be scheduled for an initial treatment. Most people respond to 1-6 sessions. We will develop a treatment plan together. Our ketamine sessions are held in a safe, supportive environment. Sessions are 2-3 hours long and include preparation, intention setting and integration.

how it works

Ketamine treatment is safe, effective and evidence based.

Ketamine is an FDA-approved dissociative anesthetic used daily in hospitals and is on the World Health Organization’s (WHO) list of “essential medicines.” Decades of research shows that given as a low dose IV infusion, ketamine is a synaptogenic for your brain, helping to create new neuronal pathways. Ketamine is believed to act as an NMDA receptor antagonist, increasing glutamate, which creates an environment where optimal neuronal pathways are formed. It rapidly increases brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), helping brain cells regenerate and form strong connections. Chronic stress and depression can diminish neuronal connections. If you are suffering and have failed conventional treatments, ketamine may provide the breakthrough that you seek. At this time, most insurance companies do not cover ketamine infusions for the treatment of mood disorders and it is being used “off label” for this purpose.
